Title of Event: Kress Collection

December 8, 1pm

Location: 3rd floor of ELC

Type of Event: Walkthrough

For my final arts xpose I visited the Kress Collection in the ELC. This collection contains lots of work from hundreds of years ago. It was fascinating to see how much detail that was able to be put into all of the artwork given the lack of resources then compared to now. Specifically, the perfection displayed by the sculpture in the second picture. To create such a detailed sculpture in such a difficult material amazes me.

Title of Event: Driftpoints: The Gleaners by Maggie Cardelús

Date and Time of event: November 15 at 4pm

Location of Event: Holmes Hall

Type of Event: Exhibition

For my third arts xpose I attended Maggie Cardelús’ needlepoint exhibition. After learning about her work during her lecture, it was interesting to be able to see it in person. Seeing pictures of her work during her presentation did not give her work the credit it deserves. There is a serious amount of effort that goes into making one of these and it is really cool to see all the different ways she approaches these pieces.

Animal Intelligence Thesis – Jack Murad

Monkey’s value equality and fairness, displaying emotional reactions when they feel they are not being treated fairly. These parallels in behavior highlight the complex emotional intelligence that humans and primates share. Through these behaviors, monkeys provide insight into the evolution of human social dynamics and cultural learning.

Title of Event: Maggie Cardelús Artist Lecture

Date and time of event: October 9 5pm

Location of Event: Holmes Auditorium

Type of Event: Artist Lecture

This was a very interesting lecture about Maggie’s 30 years of experience. She tends to change her focus on art often even within each individual piece as was seen with the yarn. She specifically likes to tie in her family to her artwork which I found very interesting. She talked about how other artist have struggled to focus on both, so she combined them.

Date and time of event: October 10 1pm

Location of Event: ELC

Type of Event: Walkthrough

I did a self guided walkthrough of the Samek Museum and checked out their Slow Looking exhibit. I like the way specific artwork was grouped together throughout the museum. I especially liked the little historic note cards and documents.

Project 2 – Jack Murad

This experience is fairly recent, but was a very memorable experience. Getting recruited to play water polo at Bucknell was an eye opening moment as I had been playing since I was 9 years old. I also was never completely sure it was something I wanted to do, but getting recruited made me take a step back and evaluate what I had put into the sport and what that made me as an individual. I had been dedicated to the sport and had to make a choice to continue this dedication. I felt proud and rewarded as my dedication had achieved something bigger than the sport itself, also an opportunity to study at Bucknell.

Pride, dedication, patience, opportunistic, rewarding, achievement, talent, success, recognition, perserverance
